Cross-Cultural Events on UO Campus

The Office of International Affairs (OIA), its International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) and Study Abroad Programs (SA) congratulate all 5,000 graduates, especially the more than 200 international students and OIA student workers who received their degrees during the 2013 Spring Commencement Ceremony.

Out of 502 graduating high school academic achievers, the University of Oregon has attracted the ghighest numbers nationwide for a toal of 58.

These students were designated as valedictorians or top academic achievers by their respective high schools.

EUGENE, Ore. -- (June 17, 2013) -- A cross-campus initiative that seeks to motivate greater responsiveness to the prevention of genocide and mass atrocities has announced the recipients of its inaugural project grants.

UO journalism student Sam Polloway co-authored a lead story for the Vienna Review, while participating in the AHA Journalism in Vienna program, spring term.

The article entitled Sick of Austerirty: The Crisis in EU Health Care describes the outcomes of many austerity measures and civil unrest in southern Europe.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program announced the fall 2013 and Academic Year scholarships recipients. Once more, the University of Oregon ranks among the highest producers of Gilman Scholars with nine recipients for fall 2013, tying for 8th in the country.

The UO tied with University of Wisconsin Madison, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Central Washington University and California State University Monterey Bay, yet outperformed institutions such as Oregon State University, University California Los Angeles, and San Diego State University.

Steve and Dale, recipients of the Internet2 President’s Leadership Award at the Internet2 Annual Meeting, are onto their next adventure in Africa in May, June and July. They were recognized at the Annual Meeting in front of more than 800 attendees for their exceptional global leadership in enabling the deployment of networks in developing nations in support of research and education at the margins.
