Association of Pacific Rim Universities
The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) is a network of 50 leading research universities in the Asia-Pacific region. The universities span 17 economies, building international cooperation, fostering talent, contributing to social and economic advancement and developing new knowledge on the major challenges facing the region. As the only network of leading universities linking the Americas, Asia and Australasia, the APRU is the Voice of Knowledge and Innovation for the Asia-Pacific region. APRU brings together thought leaders, researchers, and policy-makers to exchange ideas and collaborate on effective solutions to the challenges of the 21st century.
The University of Oregon, an international leader in sustainable urban design and landscape planning through its renowned Sustainable Cities Initiative and its Department of Landscape Architecture, is hosting the APRU Sustainable Cities and Landscapes Research Hub. The Hub aims to engage with cross-disciplinary experts, government officials and non-governmental organisations to consider Pacific Rim cities in the context of their many landscape interdependencies, including services, networks and systems within and beyond the urban periphery. It will harness the breadth of experiences and socio-ecological contexts across the Pacific Rim to compare existing practices and models of city-landscape interactions, and to initiate solutions and policy interventions to make entire city-landscape complexes more sustainable.
The Division of Global Engagement is proud to partner with regional, national and international organizations to support the University of Oregon's mission.
