April 28, 2020
Dear students,
Please know that we make every effort to keep you informed during this continuously evolving situation. At this time, we regret to report that we cannot run travel-based programs in summer 2020, including travel-based study abroad, international internships, and other related global programs through August 14, 2020. The University of Oregon made this decision in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Centers for Disease Control worldwide Level 3 Travel Warning. UO will not allow international travel for university-sponsored study abroad or international internships at this time and continues to be suspended until further notice.
We know you will have many concerns following this decision. Please rest assured that advisors are following up to assist with all of your academic planning, finances, and scholarships. You will still have access to summer financial aid. Please contact the UO Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships for more information.
You have several options to consider due to this cancellation:
- You can defer your application to the same program in Summer 2021 (please note that at this point, a few programs are not scheduled to run again next year). Your application fee and program deposit (if paid) will be applied to next year’s program.
- You can transfer your application to another program during a different term (fall, winter, spring, summer) in the 20-21 academic year. Your advisor can help you identify a program that best aligns with your goals.
- You can withdraw your application and receive a refund of any application fee and/or deposit paid.
Your health and safety are our highest priorities in this unprecedented time. For additional information about travel and study abroad, including a list of frequently asked questions, please visit https://www.uoregon.edu/coronavirus.
For program-specific questions, please feel free to reach out to your program advisor or contact Global Education Oregon (GEO) at geoinfo@uoregon.edu or GlobalWorks at globalworks@uoregon.edu. All other questions can be direct to intl@uoregon.edu.
Best regards,
