A visit to the Lillis Business Complex cinched first-generation college student Sarah Rosencrans’ decision to attend the UO—that, and the offer of a Pioneer Award Presidential Scholarship that would allow her to graduate debt-free.

She was among eighteen such scholarship recipients to attend the May 10 Pioneer Award Gala, an experience capped for Rosencrans by the chance to meet the couple whose generosity has significantly influenced the course of her education and the initial trajectory of her career.

A Beaverton native and 4.00 high school student, Rosencrans had planned to attend college out of state until she toured the Lillis Business Complex: “I was presold on the business school,” she says. Four years later, she remains sold. Her younger brother Adam, also a presidential scholar, just finished his freshman year at the UO.

“I can’t imagine having gone anywhere else,” she says. Rosencrans graduated in June, and plans to continue her career with Marriott International.

Rosencrans is best know in the Office of International Affairs for her work as an International Peer Assistant and having completed an exchange program in Perth, Australia.
