The Gabon-Oregon Center recently launched a training workshop in scientific English at the GOC’s English Language Laboratory in Libreville. In the first class, nine students from a diverse range of Gabonese institutions and organizations were chosen with the objective of improving the competence in the English language specifically focused on the needs of scientific researchers. Also highlighted were writing techniques that will maximize acceptance of academic scientific articles by relevant Anglophone journals. The staff carrying out this mission were trained by and work in close collaboration with the UO’s American English Institute (AEI).
