The Office of International Affairs is in the process of selecting a new Associate Vice Provost and Director of Study Abroad, and the search committee would like your input. Through this search effort, we are seeking an outstanding academic leader to advance our study abroad mission, increase the rate of study abroad participation among our students (already at 25% of graduates), and ensure that our study abroad offerings meet the needs of a changing 21st century student body as concerned with a global education as they are with educational expense and the career relevance of their training.
The Associate Vice Provost and Director of Study Abroad reports to and collaborates closely with the Vice Provost for International Affairs in coordinating UO international strategy, and is particularly charged with ensuring tight curricular and programmatic integration of UO study abroad and international internships offerings with the academic mission, curricular structure, and intellectual agenda of UO departments, programs, schools and colleges.
Each of the finalist candidates, Professor Martha Bayless and Associate Professor Stephen Wooten, recently presented their thoughts on "The Future of Study Abroad in a Research Institution".
