It will be part of a May 9-11 visit to Oregon by His Holiness the Dalai Lama for an environmental summit sponsored by Maitripa College, a Buddhist institution in Portland.

The author of more than 70 books, His Holiness has received numerous awards and honorary doctorate degrees. In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. His Holiness is also recognized around the world for his work to address global environmental concerns.

His Holiness has travelled to more than 60 countries on six continents. His visit to the state of Oregon in May will include several events in the Portland area in addition to his public talk at the University of Oregon.
