Kemi Balogun is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Women’s and Gender Studies & Sociology. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley with a Designated Emphasis in Women, Gender, and Sexuality. Her research focuses on gender, globalization, nationalism, race/ethnicity, and migration. She has published articles in outlets such as Ethnicities and Gender & Society. She is currently working on a book examining the Nigerian beauty pageant industry in light of the country’s economic and political transitions.
