This year’s Study Abroad Fair promises to be an exciting event with a lot of new opportunities and incentives for students hoping to study, conduct research or intern in an international setting. The event, scheduled Wednesday, November 20th, 11 am – 4 pm is expected to attract hundreds of students to the EMU Concourse.

“Last year we saw an increase in the number of students studying abroad, but most importantly, we successfully launched some amazing new programs worldwide. We hope to continue these options into next year,” says Vice Provost for International Affairs Dennis Galvan.

Among the programs making a return after their debut are Multimedia Journalism and Environmental Studies in Uruguay, Marine Biology in Panama, Harry Potter in the UK, Journalism in Austria, Marketing in Austria, and Eco Districts in Europe.

Currently, Study Abroad staff and selected faculty are working hard to launch some new and reformatted programs, including Global Health Studies in Ghana for fall 2014, Soccer & Society in Argentina for summer, and the general education course Mediterranean Quest in Greece for fall 2014.

Spring 2014 will see the launch of a new Food & Culture in Italy program in the first UO Center Abroad in Macerata, Italy.

Those attending the 2013 Study Abroad Fair will get the chance to participate in this year’s raffle for a chance to win one of five airfare grants or five iPad minis. For complete details and rules visit https://international.uoregon.edu/SA_raffle_rules.

“This year’s raffle is our way to add some excitement to our annual fair, but also let students and faculty know we are committed to giving people many access points to the opportunities they seek,” says Professor Stephen Wooten, interim director of UO Study Abroad.

UO’s Study Abroad connects students, faculty and staff with more than 190 study abroad programs, 50 exchanges and 150 internships worldwide.
