U.S. student visa regulations require full-time enrollment for students in F-1 and J-1 visa status. "Full-time" means 12 credits per term for undergraduate students or 9 credits for graduate students.
There are several reasons that you may be below full-time. They include: Graduating this term(requires a signature from your departmental advisor)
Working on your thesis or dissertation(requires a signature from your departmental advisor)
Academic difficulties(requires a signature from your departmental advisor and a meeting with an international advisor)
Taking classes at another University (Lane Community College or other)(requires a meeting with an international advisor, and a copy of your schedule from the other school)
Vacation term(requires a meeting with an international advisor)
Medical leave(requires a meeting with an international advisor and written documentation from a doctor)
If any of these reasons apply to you please fill out an Reduced Course Load Form at the beginning of the term and turn it in, along with your unofficial Duckweb transcript to our office as soon as possible. You must fill out this form for each term that you will be below full-time credits.
If you have questions about this form or your reduced course load please call the receptionist at International Affairs at (541) 346-3206 and set up an appointment with an International Advisor.
