International students request letters for various reasons, such as verifying current student status for their government or sponsor, applying for a social security number, inviting family members to the U.S., etc.

Usually the Office of International Affairs can create a letter for you. Please follow the instructions below.


How to request a letter to invite people to the U.S.

To request a letter of invitation fill out and submit this on-line form Invitation Letter Request.


How to request a letter to certify that you are or were a student at the University of Oregon

To request a letter that certifies that you are currently a student at the University of Oregon or a letter that certifies your dates of attendance at the University of Oregon please fill out and submit this on-line form Certification Letter Request.


How to request a letter for all other purposes

Please submit the following documents to the receptionist in the Office of International Affairs (333 Oregon Hall). Letters generally take three business days to be completed.

• Completed Letter Request Form and

• Your current I-20 (copy is okay); and

• Your unofficial Duckweb transcript.
