Departing the U.S.If you leave the University of Oregon before graduating, you are required to meet with an international student advisor in International Affairs to discuss your departure. This meeting will help determine what to do with your immigration record. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Steps to take when departing the UO1. Withdraw from all your classes• Log on to Duckweb and follow the complete withdrawal instructions. When you see "stop" read the information and click "I Agree." IMPORTANT: if you do not complete the Duckweb withdrawal process online you will have to pay for those credits. The date you withdraw in Duckweb is the date billing will consider for refunds. Please remember to withdraw from current and future terms. 2. Meet with an international student advisor• Make an appointment to meet with an international student advisor by phone 541-346-3206 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it • Complete a Departure Form and bring it with you to your appointment. Remember to bring your unofficial Duckweb transcript. You can print your unofficial transcript by logging on to Duckweb and going to grades and transcripts under the student menu. 3. Finalize payments and refunds• Check your student account balance. IMPORTANT: official transcripts will not be issued if you owe money. • Request a health insurance refund, if applicable. Transferring to another U.S. College/UniversityIf you plan to transfer to another college or university in the U.S., you are required to meet with an international student advisor to discuss the reasons for your transfer and to determine a transfer release date. This date affects your ability to work and attend classes at the UO and should be considered carefully. In addition to meeting with an international student advisor, you must submit a
Graduate Students: Leave of AbsenceIf you are a graduate student you are required to get approval from your academic department, the UO Graduate School, and the Office of International Affairs before taking a term off. This will keep you in good status as a graduate student. As an international student, even if your academic department approves a leave of absence, you are required to have an authorized reason for having a reduced course load or no credits. If you plan to be outside of the U.S., please submit the Departure Form to our front desk. If you plan to remain in the U.S. and do not plan on taking classes, please schedule an appointment to meet with an international student advisor in the Office of International Affairs.
