Travel to Seattle, represent UO's Model European Union Team

The University of Washington (Seattle) is sponsoring its seventh annual “Model EU,” to take place February 7-8, 2014.  This is a national event, with undergraduate EU teams recruited from universities around the country.

The U of O has been invited to send a team of two participants. The European Union Center at UW and the UO European Studies program will cover participants’ expenses. This will include travel to and from Seattle, hotel lodging and at least two meals.

The Model EU is a simulation of a European Council summit. Teams play the roles of representatives of EU member state delegations. This year we will represent Denmark. Participants will meet for an hour once or twice at the end of Fall quarter and then weekly starting in the first week of Winter quarter to prepare for the simulation, at a time that fits with students’ schedules. There will be some assigned reading and small writing projects.

Selection will be competitive. It is important to have at least some background in EU or contemporary European affairs. Only undergraduates are eligible.

Apply to join UO’S Model European Union Team by December 2.
